2014 Holiday Activities in Dallas

I had so much fun at the City Lights event in downtown Dallas last year. The Christmas tree lighting was celebrated with holiday music, food and wine, and even fireworks! And while I had planned to go again this year, it was rescheduled for today (Sunday, November 23) due to the rain. Which is also the same timing now as the tree lighting at Shops of Legacy.

I fell in love with the Arboretum when I visited early in the summer. So I am really looking forward to visiting again and seeing the holiday exhibit for the 12 Days of Christmas. There is a gazebo representing each of the twelve days. From what I understand, the admission is included in your day admission, but will cost extra after 6pm ($20 for non-member adults).

Something else I’ve heard about, but have not yet visited is the ICE! exhibition at the Gaylord in Grapevine. The exhibition is carved by ice sculptors from all over the world (don’t worry, parks are included!). This year’s theme is Frosty the Snowman. Tickets during the peak time are close to $30 for adults. Peak is Thanksgiving weekend and around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

And if you missed (or will miss) the downtown tree lighting, you can still catch the celebrations at Klyde Warren Park on Saturday, December 6. I know I am definitely keeping this as an option.

This week also marks Thanksgiving. So wherever you may be, celebrating with friends and/or family, Happy Thanksgiving!
