I finished! In 30 days I wrote my novel. Or at least 29. And while there is a LOT of revising still to do, it’s definitely a sense of accomplishment at having finished. Because this time last week as I slipped further behind, I thought there was no way I was going to finish, even with a four day weekend.
But I did. My word count steadily rose over the weekend, and I was careful to get about half of my day’s goals in the morning and then head out to explore DC for a writing break, and then get back to it to finish up my goal and, for two days, surpass it. The great thing about this challenge is just getting the idea down.
The story I worked on this month was an idea I had several months ago. I had a couple of character ideas with it, other than the main story line, but I saved starting it and fleshing it out more until November. And it was great to flesh the story out this past month, see what my characters would do and how they would react, and also see some characters that, as it turned out, I didn’t really need.
I plan now on taking a couple of days for a break and then get back to the novel I was editing prior to November 1. And I’ll let November’s novel sort of sit in the back of my mind for a bit before I begin the editing process there. And to those making that final stretch, Good Luck!
