Officially fall…or maybe winter

If you do not live in the Northeast, or missed the news and weather forecast, then you may not know that it snowed over the last weekend. Yes, that’s right. It snowed. In October. And it was cold.

Now granted, it didn’t stick. But there were large, fluffy snowflakes falling from the sky for a good while on Saturday afternoon. And when I went out to meet a friend for dinner, it felt like December. It seems that while fall took its sweet time to get here, winter’s decided to come early. Or at least send us a reminder that it’s just around the corner.

For all my complaining, the colder weather does bring many nice things: hot chocolate, mulled wine, sweatshirts and the comfort of inside heating, movies long into the night under heavy blankets, baking, thick, hearty comfort food…

The leaves haven’t yet changed much. A few are in the process of turning gold and red, but not yet in their full glory. And as I’ve talked already about my love of my new camera (maybe not so new now), I’m really looking forward to going out for photos once the fall colors are really here. Looking through pictures from last year, that happened a little more into November. I guess we’ll see! In the meantime, mother nature, how about kicking it back up a few degrees?
